Valerie Keane (b.1989, Passaic, NJ) lives in New York.

Keane's sculptures variably appear like human proxies, formal abstractions, totems, and the products of automatic writing. She has been working with many of the same constraints for nearly a decade, and her work references and reiterates elements and gestures drawn from her practice as a sculptor and draftsperson. Calling to mind medical prosthetics, biomorphic machines, and even sigils, their forms are in a constant state of flux. Taken together, they are like fragments of an obscured whole.

Solo exhibitions include: Lomex, New York; High Art, Paris; Dallas Contemporary, Dallas; What Pipeline, Detroit; and Bedstuy Love Affair, New York. Recent group exhibitions include: The Emily Harvey Foundation, New York; Basement Roma, Rome; Galerie Yeche Lange, New York; Clearing, New York; Public Access, New York; Loong Mah, New York; Clearing, Brussels; Galleria Mazzoli, Modena; Galerie Maria Bernheim, Zurich; and The Whitney Museum, New York.
