This year's benefit auction and exhibition, "The World Is The Work", brings together artists, curators, and art lovers from The Drawing Center's community. Each guest curator will present a selection of five or more works on paper by artists they admire. Works will be on view at The Drawing Center from October 7 through October 11, and will be available for purchase through a silent auction benefiting The Drawing Center and participating artists. Bidding will begin on September 29 at 12:00 pm ET and end on October 14 at 12:00 pm ET. The Drawing Center rbrickman@drawingcenter.org

Jessi Reaves' (b. 1986, Portland, Oregon) practice centers on sculptures that also operate as furniture, rupturing traditional binaries of the functional and the aesthetic. Reaves received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2009. Recent solo and two-person exhibitions include the American Academy of Arts and Letters, New York (2026); Walker Art Center, Minneapolis (2025); Galerie Crèvecoeur, Paris (2024); San Carlo, Cremona (2023); The Arts Club of Chicago (2023); Bridget Donahue, New York (2022); High Art, Arles (2022); Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh (2021); and Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (2021).

 

Selected group exhibitions include White Columns, New York (2026); Emalin, London (2025); Jeffrey Deitch, Los Angeles (2025); Galería Mascota, Mexico City (2025); Sadie Coles HQ, London (2024); Pratt Manhattan Gallery, New York (2024); Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2023); Museum Brandhorst, Munich (2023); Bridget Donahue, New York (2022); and Lumber Room, Portland (2021).

 

Reaves' work is in the permanent collections of the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh; Frac Nouvelle-Aquitaine MÉCA, Bordeaux; Inhotim, Brumadinho; Museum Brandhorst, Munich; RISD Museum, Providence; and Whitney Museum of American Art, New York.
