This year's benefit auction and exhibition, "The World Is The Work", brings together artists, curators, and art lovers from The Drawing Center's community. Each guest curator will present a selection of five or more works on paper by artists they admire. Works will be on view at The Drawing Center from October 7 through October 11, and will be available for purchase through a silent auction benefiting The Drawing Center and participating artists. Bidding will begin on September 29 at 12:00 pm ET and end on October 14 at 12:00 pm ET. The Drawing Center rbrickman@drawingcenter.org

Charles Yuen has been awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation fellowship, Adolf and Esther Gottlieb Foundation grant, and a Joan Mitchell Foundation grant. His work has been included in exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Armory Show New York, the Newark Museum, and the Anhui Modern Art Museum, Hefei China. He has had numerous solo exhibitions primarily, but not limited to, the New York City area. Public collections include the Brooklyn Museum, Zimmerli Museum at Rutgers, NYU Fales Library, the Asian American Art Institute. Reviews of Yuen’s art have been published in multiple venues including Art in America, the New York Times, and Hyperallergic.

 

Originally from Hawaii, Charles Yuen holds a MFA (Rutgers University) and BFA (University of Hawaii). I view my art as part catharsis, part poetics, and inherently iconoclastic. It is connected to a social and civic vision with activities including a founding membership in Godzilla, an Asian American arts organization.

 

Charles Yuen currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.

 

Artworks purchased at the auction will be available for pickup at The Drawing Center beginning on October 19, 2026. Wrapping of the artwork is provided.
