This year's benefit auction and exhibition, "The World Is The Work", brings together artists, curators, and art lovers from The Drawing Center's community. Each guest curator will present a selection of five or more works on paper by artists they admire. Works will be on view at The Drawing Center from October 7 through October 11, and will be available for purchase through a silent auction benefiting The Drawing Center and participating artists. Bidding will begin on September 29 at 12:00 pm ET and end on October 14 at 12:00 pm ET. The Drawing Center rbrickman@drawingcenter.org

Anne Wilson is a Chicago-based visual artist who creates sculpture, material drawings, and performances that explore themes of time, loss, and private and social rituals. Her artwork embraces conceptual strategies and handwork using everyday materials -- table linen, bed sheets, human hair, lace, thread, glass, and wire. Wilson’s artwork resides in permanent collections around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Arts and Design, New York; Art Institute of Chicago; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Des Moines Art Center; Detroit Institute of Arts; Victoria & Albert Museum, London; Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester, England; Foundation Toms Pauli, Lausanne, Switzerland; and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Japan.

 

Wilson was named a 2026 Guggenheim Fellow in Fine Arts, a 2015 United States Artists Fellow, and is the recipient of awards from the ACC (2024 Gold Medal), Renwick Alliance (2022 Distinguished Educators Award), TextileSociety of America, Artadia, The Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, National Association of Schools of Art and Design, and the National Endowment for the Arts. In 2025 Wilson received an honorary doctorate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Fiber and Material Studies.

Artworks purchased at the auction will be available for pickup at The Drawing Center beginning on October 19, 2026. Wrapping of the artwork is provided.
