This year's benefit auction and exhibition, "The World Is The Work", brings together artists, curators, and art lovers from The Drawing Center's community. Each guest curator will present a selection of five or more works on paper by artists they admire. Works will be on view at The Drawing Center from October 7 through October 11, and will be available for purchase through a silent auction benefiting The Drawing Center and participating artists. Bidding will begin on September 29 at 12:00 pm ET and end on October 14 at 12:00 pm ET. The Drawing Center rbrickman@drawingcenter.org

Taína H. Cruz (b. 1998, New York) lives and works in New Haven. Cruz creates immersive worlds where the familiar becomes unstable and everyday experience slips into something more uncanny. Shaped in part by growing up in New York and coming of age within networked image culture, her practice considers transformation and the shifting boundary between physical and imagined worlds.

 

Recent exhibitions include Greater New York, MoMA PS1, New York (2026); the Whitney Biennial, New York (2026); Museum ofContemporary Art Detroit (2025); MMK Frankfurt (2025); and Kraupa-Tuskany Zeidler, Berlin (2024). Cruz has presented solo exhibitions with Kraupa-Tuskany Zeidler, Berlin; Housing Gallery, New York; and Embajada, San Juan.

 

Cruz received an MFA from the Yale School of Art (2025) and a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art (2020).
