Michael Smith (b.1951) is a performance/video/installation artist who also likes to color. His work has been shown internationally at Museo Jumex in Mexico City, the Tate Modern, Hales Gallery and Dan Gunn in London, The Glasgow International, and the 2017 Skulptur Projekte Munster. He has exhibited at numerous New York City institutions including The Whitney, The New Museum, Sculpture Center, Artists Space, and Greene Naftali. His large-scale installation, Government Approved Home Fallout Shelter Snack Bar, is currently on view at MoMA until June 2025. Smith lives in Brooklyn and works in Austin, Texas.
