Kelsey Gneiting (born 1991) is a multi-disciplinary artist who grew up in New York State within a small secluded religious community without access to the internet, television, or a cell phone until the age of 18. He has spent the last ten years of his life gathering a non-traditional education in The Arts, auditing classes at fine art universities across the United States and Europe, and has recently returned to the USA after five years studying painting in Cologne and Berlin, Germany. His artistic practice can be described as a search to comprehend and confront the boundaries of image-making, and how perceptions of time, space, and perspective can be mediated through the language of light, form, and color. Among collage, drawing, video, and performance, painting plays a central role in his practice, and his work often balances delicately on the ephemeral line between figuration and abstraction.
