Emi Winter (Oaxaca, 1973) makes paintings, drawings, prints and designs textiles. She obtained a BA from Oberlin College and MFA from Bard College. She was an artist in residence at The Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas and Ateliers Höherweg in Dusseldorf, Germany. In 2011 she was awarded the Acquisition Prize for the XV edition of the Rufino Tamayo Painting Biennial in Mexico. Recent solo exhibitions are South Mountain at Gold Scopophilia in Montclair, NJ, Verdor at the Centro Cultural San Pablo in Oaxaca, Mexico, and Afternoon Formations at Minus Space in Brooklyn. Her work is included in the collections of the Museo de Arte Moderno de México; Museo Nacional de la Estampa, Mexico; Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca; Instituto de Artes Gráficas de Oaxaca; McNay Art Museum, San Antonio, TX; Grunewald Center for the Graphic Arts at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles. She lives in South Orange, New Jersey and teaches bilingual art classes for the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey.
