David Muenzer works across drawing, sculpture, painting, performance, writing, and exhibition-making. His artistic interfaces bring different ways of understanding the world into contact. Moving between intimate material and larger systems, Muenzer treats artistic practice as a distinct mode of inquiry, grounded in making and the particular lifeworlds, temporalities, and forms of knowledge that adhere to objects and images.

Muenzer's ongoing Globehead drawings use the preexisting language of cartooning to bring together images from many different contexts, replacing their subjects' heads with gridded spheres while attending closely to everything that remains: posture, gesture, clothing, setting, and the ways figures face or turn away from one another and the viewer. The substitution changes the rate at which differences might be perceived, while preserving the testimonial force associated with life-adjacent drawing practices such as fieldwork and courtroom illustration.

Recent solo exhibitions include Exit Interview, organized by Final Hot Desert at Concept Art Gallery, Pittsburgh (2026); Storylines at Pivot, London (2026); Teen at Final Hot Desert, London (2025); Twin Study at Soldes, Los Angeles (2024); and Proxetics at Dracula's Revenge, New York (2022). In conjunction with Twin Study, Muenzer organized a roundtable on heritability with artist Kelly Akashi, art historian David Joselit, and artist Jeffrey Stuker. Muenzer's work has also been presented at the Hammer Museum, the Andy Warhol Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, The Drawing Center, Night Gallery, and Lubov.
