Bibi Calderaro is a transdisciplinary artist, curator, educator and scholar. Her work circulates internationally since 1995, proposing ways to walk away from modernism. She has shown in MoMA-PS1; Bronx Museum for the Arts; Museo del Barrio; Flaherty Film Festival; Flux Factory; MinusSpace Gallery; Reina Sofia Museum among a range of other institutions and spaces. Her artwork is in the collections of The Art Museum at Princeton University; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; The National Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Modern Art in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships and has participated in select residency programs, both nationally and internationally. She was in the first cohort of Proa Foundation’s year-long fellowship and studio residency program with artist Guillermo Kuitca. Calderaro is currently a Lecturer at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY in the Interdisciplinary Studies and the Environmental Justice Programs. She is a PhD candidate in the Urban Education Program at The Graduate Center CUNY. She holds an M.Phil. in Education; a Sustainability Science and Education MA; an MFA in Social Practice from Queens College, CUNY and a BFA from Wesleyan University. Her practice, research and activism center on reciprocal eco-social restoration and regeneration. She spends most of her time in the estuarian watersheds of the Hudson and the Rio de la Plata rivers.
